St. Olav’s Way
The St. Olav’s Way is also known as the Old King’s Road or the Pilgrim’s Route. In medieval times it was a pilgrimage route to the cathedral of Nidaros, nowadays Trondheim. There are many pilgrim’s routes that lead to Trondheim through Sweden and Norway. The most famous ones are the Gudbrandsdalsleden starting out in Oslo and the S:t Olavsleden from Selånger in Sweden.
I have two weeks for the hike so I studied both ways for sections that will lead me to Trondheim within the given time period. While this is possible on both routes, I will be hiking the Gudbrandsdalsleden. It is easier for me to reach my starting point and infrastructure seems a bit more supportive. Both routes are said to have fantastic scenery and unique trails, so you actually can’t go wrong.
